Steam eReads is a boutique online publishing house specialising in romantic fiction. We don’t aspire to be the biggest, but we intend to be one of the best markets for quality fiction on the internet. The high standard of our titles will reflect the time and attention to detail we are investing; from thorough editing, exceptional cover art and individual marketing throughout Australia and worldwide.
Our first release of titles was officially launched in March 2013 at the Australian Romance Readers Convention in Brisbane, Australia.
NICOLA BOSS, PUBLISHER & CEO
Nicola’s career in publishing began in her early 20s when she became the founding editor of a national literary magazine for young writers. Since then she has worked on many varied projects in the industry from book reviewer, researcher and technical writer to freelance editor, and her articles and reviews have been published in numerous print and online media.
After a brief sojourn in real estate where she honed her sales and marketing skills, she’s now back where she wants to be: in publishing, and working with a great team of new and established authors and reading some fantastic books.
Romance has always been her favourite genre, from the classic works of Jane Austen, to contemporary bestselling authors like Jilly Cooper, Fiona Walker and Janet Evanovich, and many of our wonderful homegrown talents. She loves watching BBC period dramas and reading country romance novels with rugged Hugh Jackman-esque heroes (and a couple of horses thrown into the mix!)
Nicola lives with her own Mr Darcy in rural Australia with an assortment of animals and children.
VICKI SLY, PUBLICITY MANAGER & EDITOR
Vicki is a bibliophile with extensive experience in writing, editing and proofreading books, magazines, newspapers, websites and journals. She is also a book reviewer and book blogger who has spent many years lost in libraries. Most recently, her roles have extended to writing, editing and marketing in the growing digital publishing industry.
Vicki is excited about the opportunity to work with the experienced Steam eReads team and talented authors, both nationally and internationally. She has a passion for the written word, which includes being part of a global reading community through the discussion and promotion of books. Sharing a glass of wine with friends at book club also rates highly as one of the simple joys in her life.
Having lived and worked in a number of countries, Vicki now calls Broome in northern Western Australia home and shares the tropical heat with her wonderful husband, two teenage girls and Chisel, the red border collie.
Vicki holds a BA (English) with a major in Journalism, a Certificate of Professional Editing and Proofreading, a Diploma of Professional Writing and a Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
JOANNE SOPER-COOK, EDITIORAL MANAGER
JoAnne was born in Old Perlican, Newfoundland and grew up in the small fishing village of Hant’s Harbour. She published her first story at the age of eight when her mother, impressed with the quality of a short story she’d written for a school project, sent it in to a local newspaper. Since then she has written novels, novellas, short stories, plays, speeches, radio scripts and some really, really bad poetry. She holds a BA (Honours) and an MA in English Literature from Memorial University and a BEd, also from Memorial. She is a former English Literature lecturer with an unabashed love for the work of F Scott Fitzgerald. When she isn’t writing she loves reading (pulp, mystery, and Southern Gothic are her favourite genres) walking, travel (the Deep South states of Mississippi and Louisiana rank high on her list of destinations) and listening to the voices in her head. She makes her home in St John’s, Newfoundland, with her husband Paul and her two spoiled rotten dogs Lola and Sheppie.
